“They say Plutarch and Haymitch had a hard time keeping her alive,” comments Venia under her breath.” AKA: HAYMITCH was the one who SAVED EFFIE’S LIFE and rescued her from the Capitol when she was imprisoned for rebelling.
Yeah, she totally ruined his life but yet he still felt the need to save hers.
YES, Effie DID support the Games and the Capitol AT ONE POINT IN HER LIFE (just like every other Capitol citizen), but the important thing is she saw that it was wrong AND REBELLED. I mean, do people totally just forget about that? Did you pay any attention to Effie at all while you read the books or?
Anyway, by the end of Mockingjay, they’re both very broken people and need someone. Haymitch because of his obvious past, and Effie because of being imprisoned (and it’s hinted at tortured) by the Capitol. To me, it just makes sense. They’ve known each other for years and- if nothing else, they have at least a friendship by Mockingjay(and you can’t deny that). It’s obvious they care for one another or Haymitch would have never went and rescued her. He would have just let her die.
AND WOODY AND ELIZABETH SHIP HAYFFIE AND THEY PLAY THEM SO I GUESS IT REALLY DOESN’T MATTER WHAT YOU THINK ANYWAY.

“I thought you thought I was sexy always,” he replies, holding out his hand so she can step daintily over the body in her five inch heels.
“Well,” Effie’s nose wrinkles as she glimpses the blood oozing from the man’s chest. “Not when you’re wearing your stupid cowboy hat.”
“I like my cowboy hat,” retorts Haymitch, pulling her to his chest with a smirk.
“And you’re the only one in Panem who does.” Effie laughs and presses her lips against his. “Come on, let’s go back to yours and I’ll strip for you for free.”
I assume that someone located the exact fabric for Effie’s yellow/pink ensemble. Since now all these exquisite and accurate cosplays are popping up. Can someone share where the fabric is? Sign me up.

On Effie’s first day back in Twelve, after the war, Haymitch shows her around and re-introduces her to the rebuilt district. The Capitol far behind them, he leads her past the broken down fences that used to surround Twelve, not in the direction of the woods but to a grande open field that she didn’t even know existed.
She has always suspected that the districts could be quite pretty if it weren’t for the oppression and poverty and now she can see that she’s right. In Twelve, the sky is blue and beautiful and real. Everything about Twelve is real: the trees, the sunlight, the air, the clothes. The people, the families.
Wordlessly, he takes her hands in his and when she looks up at him, there’s a rare smile on his face.
“Welcome home, princess.”
